New Polices - Effective November 1

The Library System consists of Municipal managed and County managed Libraries.  Each library has policies and procedures set by their governing body.  At the Oct 24th Harnett County Library Board of Trustee meeting a few changes were made to Harnett County Library to bring consistency between the various libraries.

New Polices!
Attention: Effective November 1, 2012

  •  Maximum of 6 DVDs per library card in the Main and Anderson Creek Libraries.  Municipal libraries have lower limits based on their collection size and polices.
  • New library cards must be obtained 15 prior to closing time.  15 minutes is necessary for staff to accurately input the information for a new library card and give a new card orientation.
  • 90 days after fines or fees are accrued on a patron record the card will be blocked.  Blocked cards cannot borrow materials or use a public access computer.

These policies were already in use at various libraries in the system.  Making these changes bring consistency and allow us to work as a system.

Hopefully there will be less misunderstanding for patrons using multiple libraries.

Roly poly bugs are crustaceans, not insects.

Though they're often associated with insects and are referred to as "bugs," pillbugs actually belong to the subphylum Crustacea. They're much more closely related to shrimp and crayfish than to any kind of insect.  http://insects.about.com/od/isopods/a/10-facts-pillbugs.htm

The library even has books about Roly Poly bugs or Pill Bugs
